  • Hello Zach, your podcast is my new favourite thing to listen to while doing all the things that can be done wearing headphones. I don't have much of a message here other than to send you my support and appreciation. Your descriptions of the history are fascinating and delivered with just the right balance of detail and accessibility. I'm excited to see The Boer War and the Crimean War coming up for me to listen to soon: two of my favourite wars. (Not favourite in terms of all the death and suffering, of course: just that the history is so delicious. Have you read the Flashman books? Not so serious, of course, but terrific fun. I can't help but picture a terrified and dysentery-ridden Flashman at the charge whenever I think of the Crimean War). Thank you also for your recommendation of The History of England podcast: I've been enjoying that immensely too. All the best for you and the podcast.

  • oops I typed revolution when I meant to type rebellion, my bad. Looking forward to hearing you tell the story of the journey from Oulart Hill to Vinegar Hill

  • You're right there Seamus, in fact in hindsight I was thinking I never really gave it the attention I wanted to, so I plan on doing a proper episode on it in future...so watch this space! but do expect me to get all irish and patriotic soon enough, when I cover the more famous risings, and other well known wars! Great vid by the way, Vinegar Hill was a brutal, one sided and frankly unfair battle. Thanks for getting in touch bro!

  • Well done Zach, a good job of explaining simultaneous multiple complexities. I usually wait to listen to a few episodes of each series at a time so the 2 hour episode suits me very well. Just one quibble ... as a native of Wexford I couldnt agree that you covered the Irish revolution in any great detail at all. Heres a start http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZacKD4SmE3k
